13th Week

1. a)  What activity did you design in your lesson plan to develop students' thinking skills, especially critical thinking, creative thinking, or inquiry learning?

b) How did you develop these activities?

c) Which web tools did you use to achieve these goals or thinking skills?

d) What question(s) did you ask, or would you ask, ChatGPT during this process? Provide at least three rounds of interaction (e.g., Prompt → Response → New Prompt).

In my preschool lesson plan, where I covered the subject of "Five Senses", I aimed to develop students' critical thinking, creative thinking, and inquiry learning. I designed an interactive game activity called "Exploring Sense Organs" to introduce students to each sense organ. In the activity, they were allowed to experience each sense with visuals and tactile materials. I also increased student participation by using web tools such as Wordwall and Storyboard. I asked ChatGPT questions to develop the activities, for example, I received help with "Creative activity suggestions", "Interactive questions", and "Kahoot questions". This process provided a fun and educational lesson experience that increased students' thinking skills.

d) Questions you asked ChatGPT during this process (3 interaction examples):

First Interaction:

1)Prompt: "What creative activities do you suggest for teaching the five senses to my preschool students?"

Response: "You can use visuals and tactile materials to allow children to experience each sense organ. For example, by doing a 'secret box' activity, students can try to identify different objects with their hands."

New Prompt: "What interactive questions can I ask students for this activity?"

2)Prompt: "How can I design a game for my preschoolers to learn about the five senses?"

Response: "You could make a 'Sensory Hunt' game. Children explore each of the five senses by following clues related to a particular sense. For example, they could guess what's in a box just by touching it."

New Prompt: "What questions should I ask in this game?"

3)Prompt: "How can I create effective questions about the five senses on Wordwall?"

Response: "You can create simple questions that describe the five senses. For example, 'Which organ of ours detects smells?' or 'Which sense is used for our eyes?'"

New Prompt: "Can we make these questions more fun?

2. a) While preparing digital storytelling, what question did you ask, or would you ask ChatGPT to help students address a scenario that develops their problem-solving skills during the story-writing process?

b) Instead of asking ChatGPT for mere information, did you ask how to develop the storyline or solve a problem? Could you provide an example?

How can I create a story where a child explores the world around them using all 5 senses? Can you suggest a scenario in the story that will allow them to solve problems they encounter using each sense?

In this way, I can have students discuss how to use their senses and how to explore the world around them while developing their problem-solving skills.Instead of just asking ChatGPT for information, I also asked questions to develop the storyline or solve a problem. For example, I asked a question like, "A child has the flu and his senses are losing their function. How can we solve this situation? What can I do to help him feel his senses again? Which senses can I use to help him?" ChatGPT can offer a solution suggestion that can make a character in the story think about how to solve a problem. For example, the idea of "an object that the child can identify by smelling, touching, or hearing sounds" can be suggested to solve the vision problem.

3. a) In your lessons, which method do you prefer: "ChatGPT" or "Group Work"? Why?

b) Compare the positive and negative aspects of using "ChatGPT" or "group work" during your lessons.

c) What did you learn about your own learning process while using ChatGPT and writing prompts?

I use ChatGPT and group work methods in my classes to achieve different goals. ChatGPT provides students with quick feedback and individual thinking opportunities, while group work develops students' social skills and allows them to collaborate. However, there are some challenges such as ChatGPT not providing social interaction and passive students in group work. In my own learning process, I realized that using ChatGPT made my teaching more efficient and developed students' creative thinking skills. Integrating both methods into my class enriches students' learning experiences.

4. a) How do you think Coursera courses contributed to your personal or academic goals?

b) Was there any point in the Coursera courses where you struggled to understand the content? How did you overcome these challenges?

c) How do you think you can apply a concept or skill you learned from Coursera courses in real life?

d) What features of the platform did you find most effective? Was Coursera's presentation style (e.g., video lessons, quizzes, forums) suitable for your learning style? Why?

e) How did you manage your time while completing Coursera courses? If you faced difficulties, how did you stay motivated?

f) Did using Coursera improve your technological and pedogogical (knowledge) skills? In what areas?

g) What are your thoughts on the advantages and disadvantages of Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) (Coursera is an example of this types of courses)?

Coursera courses have contributed significantly to my personal and academic goals. What I have learned about educational technologies and digital tools has helped me improve my teaching methods. Features such as video lessons and exams have been very suitable for my learning style and increased my participation in classes. Coursera has helped me develop both my technological and pedagogical skills.

5. a) Which part(s) of the course content and activities during the semester were the most effective for you?  Why?

b) What are the three most important concepts or skills you learned during the semester? How can you apply what you learned in your life or future career?

c) Compared to the goals you set at the beginning of the semester, were you able to achieve them? Explain please?

The most effective content throughout the semester was the use of digital tools in education and technology integration. Learning how to incorporate Web 2.0 tools and ChatGPT into teaching made the lessons more interactive. The most important concepts I learned were technology integration, digital storytelling, and Web 2.0 tools. I plan to use these concepts to increase student engagement and make learning more fun. :)!!
